NETA Field Service Technician

Overview:

Critical Switchgear Services is seeking  NETA Field Service Technicians. Field Service Technicians will be responsible for performing electrical testing, maintenance, and repair services on electrical distribution systems and equipment. Technicians will work with our team to ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. An understanding of sophisticated electrical distribution systems as well as the use of complex electrical test equipment is required.

 

Responsibilities:

Field Service Test Technicians travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and collect data of low, medium and high voltage (480 Volt to 25 kV) electrical systems.
Perform operations, analysis, inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment to include breakers, transformers, switches, switchgear, relays, ATS, motor control centers, and other electrical apparatus in both field and shop environments.
Utilize electrical test equipment and apply knowledge of complex electrical distribution systems to ensure equipment reliability and operational safety.
Uphold safety standards while contributing to a safe and secure work environment for colleagues and clients.
Monitor and control time and material costs by identifying inefficiencies and implementing corrective actions to minimize waste.
Participate in emergency on-call rotations; respond promptly and effectively to customer issues during off-hours as needed.
Setup and perform electrical tests on the following equipment:
o Transformers – power factor, TTR, winding resistance, insulation resistance, excitation and oil analysis
o MV and HV conductors – VLF Tan Delta, Partial Discharge, VLF Withstand, DC Hipot Withstand
o Circuit Breakers – primary injection, secondary injection, contact resistance, insulation resistance
o Automatic Transfer Switch – troubleshooting
o Switchgear – Low, Medium and High voltage testing and maintenance
o Relays – electromechanical and solid-state testing
Properly check in/out test equipment and promptly report any damaged or unusable equipment
Treat all company provided assets as if they were your own
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays, and night hours as required.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum 2+years of experience with a High School Diploma/GED
Using trade drawings e.g.: architectural, electrical, mechanical and civil to identify potential design and installation problems.
Knowledge of industry standards including sections of NETA ATS/MTS, NEC, NFPA 70E, etc.
NETA level 1, 2, or 3 preferred.

 

Abilities

The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [75 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
Pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and reference check.
Maintain a current valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Eligibility to work in the US without the need for an employer-sponsored visa (work permit).
Ability to read and interpret one-line and control diagrams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic data entry.
NETA Certification (1, 2, 3) or similar desired
OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or NFPA 70E training.
